Peace means the absence of physical and structural violence inflicted by : it is more than the of war, although war is the ultimate form of non-peace. Phrased , it means a way of living together, in which people give their fellow creatures the space and, if necessary, the mutual support to live their lives to the full. This includes social justice, mutual respect, community spirit, freedom of opinion and , a healthy environment and use of natural resources. Peace is not a static situation that can be created once and for all. Working for peace is a process in which parts of what we are hoping for are sometimes reached but not possessed and controlled.

Peace is more than the absence of war, it is living together with our differences – of sex, , language, religion or culture – while furthering universal respect for justice and human on which such coexistence depends. Therefore, peace should never be taken for granted. It is an on-going process, a long-term which requires constant engineering, vigilance and active by all individuals. It is a choice to be made on each situation, an everyday life decision.
