Degrowth is a movement that challenges our current system of growth at all costs and excessive focus on GDP, causing human exploitation and environmental destruction. Instead it emphasizes the need for rich countries to scale down their consumption and production. It advocates for a socially just and ecologically sustainable society by highlighting the importance of autonomy, care work, self-organization, commons, community, localism, work sharing, happiness and conviviality.

Degrowth is new to me but one thing for sure GDP is not a measure of economic growth it can only be used if the GDP trickles down to a common man
‘Degrowth’ is a new concept to me. I am glad that I know that GDP is not the best measure of progress.
