Introduction

Nature is all around us, and within us. And even though we witness and feel the impact of the changes and unpredictability of nature (think of natural disasters and climate change), we should always remember that nature gives and sustains life, it brings inspiration and tranquility, it shows an effective example of coexistence. But how much are we aware of our effect on nature and the changes we provoke? Do we know about the meaning of resource depletion and the dangers in the current trends of overproduction and overconsumption? Do we often think about our individual and local actions and the global consequences they make? What is the scope of our actions and how can we reach peaceful coexistence with nature and our environment?

In this module we tackle these questions firstly focusing on 6 key aspects of our daily use of resources: food, waste, energy, traveling, clothes/fabric and cosmetics. You will be able to reflect on your own actions and behavior, gain new insights and also explore ways of how you can educate and inspire others about making our lives on this planet more balanced with nature. You will see that sometimes small and simple actions can go a big way!

Further on, you will explore alternative systems on how together we can do more and better for the environment and in such a way also live in peace with one another and with the environment. And even though there are many challenges we face today, luckily there are also available alternatives.

There are solutions such as movements, models and systems that we can follow and apply here and now and thus live in a more sustainable way, meaning that we as human beings together with the natural world can exist in peace and harmony, without destroying each other and degrading the planet and its resources.

Finally, you will find further inspiration and resources to use in your everyday personal and professional life.

So let’s get started!
