Here you can find suggestions that can give you ideas and support you when organizing an online educational activity:
Technical
There are some platforms where the activity can take place. Have a look at the options and choose what place suits you the best. Some examples include Zoom, Skype, Google Meet. A variety of tools that can support the learning process include Google (Drive, Survey, Jamboard), Mentimeter, Padlet.
Equipment
Think of what exactly you will need. How many devices, web-camera, microphone, stable internet connection?
Participants
How many participants can participate? Technically what is possible? But also in terms of a learning process, group bonding, safe environment? Do the participants need to register for the activity? Is a subscription form needed? What kind of information will you send to the participants before the activity? What information do you send after the activity? Consider time zones as well.
Timings
How do you structure your program? How many hours? How many sessions? How the sessions will be spread in a timeline? Which time is more appropriate for the participants – during the day or in the evenings, during the work weekdays or on the weekends?
Team
Who is the team? Is everyone aware of their own roles? Who is the main facilitator/trainer/organizer/support? Who is providing technical support to participants, if needed?
Plan B
Always have Plan B – backup if needed. This helps avoid panic situations. Try to plan what to do if the computer doesn’t work, electricity stops, platform crashes, internet disappears…
