“Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge; and through humane ways.”
Dalhai Lama
Peace with others relates to the effects of our relationships, behaviors and communication towards other people. It is a wide concept which consists of multiple notions, such as social equality, social justice, social harmony, friendship, compliance, respect for human rights and respect for the environment.
This module will guide you through recognizing and defining your own values, exploring SCI’s core values when it comes to peace and peace education. It will provide concrete examples of behaviors, practical skills and actions that will help you on your path of educating others about peace and communicating peace in your daily life.
In this module we will scratch the surface of what forms the essential basis of peace with others – values. We will talk about values, their recognition and active application in relation to other people who surround us in our daily lives.
In order to recognize and define the nature of our relationships to others, we must first recognize and define our own values and principles.
Values determine our behavior, emotional and rational reasoning as well as the decisions we make. Values define us, and they also define the way we achieve peace with others.
