Besides the issue of gender disparity even, in voluntary projects participants might experience episodes of “microaggression” concerning their sexual, gender and cultural identity. Look at this chart, showing the results of a survey conducted by SCI in 2019:

Again, we need to keep in mind that stereotypes and prejudices can emerge in any context. As members of a peace organisation aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding, we can become more aware of these potential threats and learn how to avoid them, in order to be more respectful and inclusive.
