1. AIM, OBJECTIVES, AND COURSE STRUCTURE

There are already many resources, toolkits and courses dealing with the preparation of outgoing volunteers…so, why should we add a new one? We think that something is still missing. We believe that SCI and the IVS movement have something important to share in this area. And we feel the need to clarify some essential concepts, to strengthen SCI’s position on cross-cultural volunteering and to avoid dangerous misunderstandings. In this online training course, we will propose many different resources, tools and methods, including videos, pictures, texts, quizzes, links, inputs for reflections, exercises. The ideas for the contents were created during the activities of the Grassroots project, especially during the “Production Lab” held in Barcelona in February 2023, and further developed through a participatory process involving representatives of African and European partners.
