M3 – Meet your stereotypes

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES

Our brain naturally tends to categorise everything. This happens because in our daily life we are constantly exposed to an endless number of inputs and we need a method of “filing” this information to avoid “overloading”. This is exactly what our brain does: it sorts those inputs (on people, experiences, things…) into boxes, so that we can process our environments more efficiently. This attitude is important for our wellbeing and for our actions, as it allows us to adapt to different environments according to what we learn, and to use our mental resources for other tasks.
